1) Prize winners must be US citizens at least 21 years of age who have made one (1) or more qualifying entries by purchasing an ASA membership or ticket during the qualifying period. Existing members are in good standing on the date and time of the draw; or other qualifying entries as may be specified below.

3) Firearms and muzzleloaders must be transported by a federally licensed dealer under federal law.
4) Suppressor winners must use a "Powered by Silencer Shop" affiliated dealer to pick up their suppressor to pay Silencer Shop's $200 NFA shipping tax.
5) Any shipping fees for firearms, fuel or other prizes charged by the dealer of the winner's choice are the responsibility of the winner.

8) The winner will be selected at random using the lottery management software. Eligible applicants will be issued ticket number or numbers depending on how many admissions they are eligible for. A randomly selected number will determine the winner. The winning ticket number will be published on the ASA website and on our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram).
9) If a winner fails to claim their prize within 72 hours of being notified, the prize will be forfeited and another winner will be selected. AUSTIN, Texas — Let's get this out of the way right away: The constant silencers in movies and TV get it all wrong. Ways to use silencers on screen - often sticking to a submachine gun or assault rifle or shotgun to weed the bad guys while the bad guys are quietly sipping their tea at the end of the hallway. Just impossible. Silencers, more accurately (and more accurately) called "suppressors", do not.
This is first-hand information after many hours at the range with SilentSerco's Jason Schaubel, where we fired several hundred rounds of various sizes and shapes in a wide variety of firearms. With the exception of small caliber ammunition that comes from carefully designed firearms, suppressors don't even come close to being silent. They are very loud.

Then again this is another thing that Hollywood gets completely wrong. Characters regularly fire hundreds of rounds in a single firefight without headphones, and they can talk right after a conversation. Anyone who has fired a gun before can tell you that without hearing protection, it doesn't take a few close shots to temporarily deafen you - guns are really that loud.
Companies that manufacture and sell suppressors then struggle to cope with major problems. They work against the popular belief that these products are murder tools suitable for secretly murdering people, and for reasons other than "murder in secret" or possibly "occupation of Nakatomi Plaza". are must-haves. But after a few hours of shooting, we got the impression that suppressors are useful for gun owners, too. And even if you're not into guns at all, the gun report's sound-stealing technology is interesting.
This is the technology for which we have come to the limit. It's certainly not "Guns Technica" and we don't often find breakthroughs in firearms. However, having the opportunity to actually try out suppressors on dozens of different guns to find out how they performed was too much to resist. So we went to Austin and went to Orange, a verorgasord smorgasbord of fiery spirits and reigning Silvencected to get through it all worked.
If Jason Schauble's name sounds vaguely familiar, it's not the first time Ark has contacted him. Schauble is the former CEO of TrackingPoint, a company that makes highly accurate (and very expensive) Linux firearms. We wrote about TrackingPoint as recently as August when we spent some time with pre-production AR-15 carbines. At the time, we said Schauble left the company a few months ago, but was nowhere to be found.

It turns out that SilencerCo is a major player in the seemingly off-the-radar industry. Although it employs only 125 people, the company has about 40 percent of the domestic compressor market, accounting for a large portion of the more than 100,000 compressors purchased in the United States each year. The company has been selling suppressors since 2009, and it's a growing market. According to marketing materials provided by SilencerCo, sales of suppressors in the United States are growing at a rate of about 20% per year. In 2014, SilencerCo expects to sell approximately 40,000 devices to customers ranging from individuals to local law enforcement agencies to the military.
SilencerCo was originally started by two fellow photographers and audio technicians, Josh Waldron and Jonathan Schultz. The pair became frustrated with both the suppressor-buying process and what they felt was a lack of customer service from existing suppressor manufacturers (so they decided to start their own company to improve). One of the first products the duo designed and built was the Osprey suppressor - an "eccentric" non-circular suppressor that featured in a series.
